Amy Kan (they/she) is a third-year art history major and Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow at Grinnell College. They are an emerging scholar and curator with experience in collections at the Grinnell College Museum of Art and in exhibitions for The Wrong’s 6th Biennale, Grin Cupola, and Basement Gallery, a student-run space they co-founded. Their research takes a revisionist approach to modern and contemporary art, focusing on European and American painting and photography, with particular interests in East-West cultural exchange, postmodernism, abstraction, and gender and queer theory. They are currently researching Swiss-American artist Sonja Sekula at the intersection of art history, religious studies, and English literature. They find joy in texts (expansive), their amateur photographic practice, and hazardously long walks. Find Kan on LinkedIn, Instagram, or StoryGraphs, and reach them at kanamy [at] grinnell.edu.
